Leadwires dedicated to strain gauges
Strain gauges are connected to strain measuring instruments using extension leadwires. Various types of leadwires are available for selection depending on the usage conditions. In addition, most of TML strain gauges are available with extension leadwires preattached at our factory. Those leadwire-integrated strain gauges greatly save the leadwire connection works during the strain gauge installation. Please feel free to contact TML or your local representative for the extension leadwires and the leadwire-integrated strain gauges.

Vinyl leadwires (standard length: 1m, 3m, 5m)
Vinyl leadwires are widely used as strain gauge leadwires. They are available in various types and economical. Because the vinyl insulation can be colored, these wires allow color coding for each axis of rosette or multi-axial gauges. Each core is composed of stranded wires, making the leadwire flexible and easy to handle. The leadwire end can be easily processed for connection works.
・Small diameter vinyl wires (leadwire code LH, LHT)
These leadwires feature very thin vinyl insulation and core wire, and are suited to wiring in tight spaces. Each core is composed of stranded wires to make the leadwire flexible and to minimize breakage due to repeated bending.・Shielded vinyl wires (leadwire code LTSA, LTSB)These are 3-core wires with shield made of aluminium foil or braded copper wire. The outer sheath is made of vinyl. The shield has an effect on reducing influence of noise.

Enamel leadwires (standard length: 0.3m, 0.5m, 1m)
Enamel leadwires have a single core insulated with resin. Heat resistance and handling method vary depending on the type of resin. Because the mass and diameter of the wire are small, enamel leadwires are used for strain measurement in rotating specimens or measurement of multiple points located in close proximity.
·Polyurethane leadwire
Polyurethane leadwires allow easy post processing because the resin can be removed with a soldering iron. Since the resin is not strong, it must be handled with special care.·Polyester leadwire
Polyester resin is harder than polyurethane resin. It cannot be removed with a soldering iron.·Polyimide leadwire
Polyimide resin is harder than polyester resin. It cannot be removed with a soldering iron.Leadwire type (Suffix code of leadwire) Core/diameter (cross section area)*1 Applicable temperature (℃) Total resistance of leadwire (Ω) Outside sheath dimensions (mm) Length per roll (m) Colors Polyurethane leadwire*2

Cross-linked vinyl insulated leadwires (standard length: 1m, 3m, 5m)
The cross-linked vinyl insulation provides improved resistance against environmental elements. It is often used for underwater measurement in ordinary temperature.

Cross-linked polyethylene insulated leadwires (standard length: 1m, 3m, 5m)
The cross-linked polyethylene insulation offers higher durability than the cross-linked vinyl insulation. The cross-linked polyethylene leadwires can be used in steam, warm water or concrete without insulation degradation.

Fluorinated resin insulated leadwires (standard length: 1m, 3m, 5m)
With a fluorinated resin insulation, these leadwires can be used in wide range of temperature from extremely low to high temperatures. The fluorinated resin resists to most chemicals. When applying some coatings, surface treatment of the insulation (tetra-etching) is required.
